Using your Opal Camera in video conferencing apps

How to easily use your new camera in a video conference

Your Opal Camera works with all major video conferencing apps.

If you are using a Mac go to your conference app Video selector with the Composer app running. In the list of available cameras you will see two Opal camera options:

  1. Opal C1 or Opal Tadpole. This is your raw camera feed: This option offers a direct feed from your camera hardware without any additional processing from the Composer app. If you prefer an unaltered view of your camera's output, Opal C1 is the choice for you.
  1. Opal Composer - Customized Video Feed: The "Opal Composer" video device delivers your camera feed with all the settings, effects, and processing applied within the Composer app. This allows you to tailor your video output to your specific needs.

If you are not seeing your customizations applied, it is likely you have selected Opal C1 instead of Opal Composer in the video/camera settings of the video conferencing app you are using.

If the Opal Composer option is not available, you may not have the Opal Composer app running.

If you are a PC user using the Opal Tadpole you should be able to select your camera from the video selection of your conference app without any software running whatsoever.

Note that most video conferencing apps only support up to 1080p with Google Meet only supporting 720p for most of its users. There are some that do support 4k however such as QuickTime & OBS. To learn how to change the resolution in the Composer app please visit this page.
