Why Am I Missing Some Opal Composer Features On My Intel Mac?

Opal is committed to delivering the highest quality experience for all users. However, due to hardware limitations on certain devices, some features might not be available. Here's what you need to know about the features disabled on Intel-based Apple machines

๐Ÿ–ฅ Intel-Based Apple Machines:

The GPU used in Intel-based Apple machines isn't as powerful as the ones found in Apple Silicon machines. These Intel devices can't deliver the level of performance and quality that we desire for our products.

๐Ÿšซ Challenges with Timely Segmentation:

We face challenges with timely segmentation (detecting the outline of a person) on Intel devices. This significantly affects the speed and quality of video output, making it challenging to provide certain features at the desired quality.

โŒ Disabled Features:

Due to the aforementioned challenges, the following features are not available when using the Composer app on Intel-based Apple machines:

  • Bokeh: This feature blurs the background to give a depth effect, but it requires precise segmentation which is challenging on Intel devices.
  • Backgrounds: Custom backgrounds rely on accurate segmentation to replace the actual background with a virtual one.
  • Face-Lock: This feature keeps the user's face centered in the frame, but it's affected by the segmentation challenges.
  • Face-Attached Stickers: Placing stickers that move with the user's face requires real-time tracking, which is not optimal on Intel devices.

In Conclusion:

While we strive to offer a consistent experience across all devices, hardware limitations sometimes necessitate feature adjustments. We're continuously working on optimizations and improvements to bring as many features as possible to all users. If you have any questions or concerns, our support team is always here to help.
